Vitilimus is a topical immunosuppressant used in the management of atopic dermatitis (eczema). It works by inhibiting specific immune cells responsible for triggering inflammation in the skin, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itchiness. It helps improve rashes associated with various inflammatory skin conditions.
Vitilimus is meant for external use only. Typically, it should be applied 2 to 4 times daily or as advised by a healthcare provider. Apply a thin, even layer to the affected skin and gently massage until absorbed. Avoid frequent overuse and do not cover the treated area with airtight bandages unless instructed to do so by a physician.
If no noticeable improvement is observed within two weeks or symptoms worsen, consult your healthcare provider. Though generally well-tolerated, possible application site reactions include mild burning, irritation, redness, or itching. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not routinely recommended unless needed.
Atopic dermatitis
Tacrolimus suppresses immune responses by binding to FKBP-12, forming a complex that inhibits the calcineurin enzyme. This blocks T-lymphocyte activation and reduces cytokine production, ultimately leading to decreased skin inflammation.
Adults:
Apply Tacrolimus 0.03% or 0.1% ointment twice daily. Rub in thoroughly. Use for short-term and intermittent therapy. If there's no improvement within 6 weeks, reevaluate the diagnosis.
Pediatrics:
Under 2 years: Not recommended
Ages 2–15 years: Use 0.03% ointment, apply twice daily
Over 15 years: Use 0.03% or 0.1% ointment every 12 hours
Use caution when combining Tacrolimus with other agents, especially:
Pregnancy Category C: Not enough data on safety in pregnant women
Breastfeeding: Unclear whether topical Tacrolimus passes into breast milk. Use only if the benefits outweigh the potential risks
